Redwood City Concert - Departure - Arrival in Beijing.

Sunday, June 15 - The PYA Tour "Farewell" concert was presented in the courthouse plaza in Redwood City! It was quite well attended!

Tuesday, June 17 - Weds, June 18. Most of us travelled on United Airlines flight from SFO directly to Beijing.

A select few families travelled on Canadian Airlines. They got to experience the beautiful Vancouver airport for a few hours.

Our Polar route took us over some pretty territory.

In Beijing, we had to line up in a specified order to go through Customs, per our group visa.

We got our luggage and took the little train to the main terminal.

Here Phil and Sara talk with Bruce, our tour guide.

For mysterious reasons, we had to line all the instruments up so they could be counted, and rolled out of the terminal on a cart.

It seems that signs everywhere in Beijing are in Chinese and English, sometimes with amusing results
Outside the terminal, our 3 buses were waiting. This is our Beijing Hotel (the Best Western, on the left...). We were warmly welcomed.

The Starbucks next door was really convenient, as were the Apple Chips and other cool stuff in the rooms.

Interesting views from the hotel.

Tomorrow we visit the Ming Tombs and present a concert at the great wall!
